ASUS has long adhered to its sustainable development strategy of 'Focus on Fundamentals and Results' and actively promotes the strategic sustainability of data measurement and technology management. In the area of natural environment protection, it releases its first Natural Impact Assessment Report in 2024.
ASUS Chairman, Jonney Shih, who attended the launch event of Ministry of Agriculture in September, said facing the international trend of biodiversity, the company's strategic approach is to focus on both within-value chain management and beyond-value chain actions to establish ASUS Natural Capital Map. Within the value chain, ASUS released its first Natural Impact Assessment Report. Beyond the value chain, ASUS is honored to become one of the first companies to have a self-proposed project successfully matched and approved.
Conducted Environmental Profit and Loss (EP&L) assessments within the value chain
ASUS Natural Impact Assessment Report continues the Environmental Profit & Loss (EP&L) assessment initiated in 2018, using four environmental indicators to analyze more than 700 suppliers' impact on the environment. This year, water pollution accounted for the highest percentage of environmental impact, followed by greenhouse gas emissions. The results led to water pollution as the primary focus for this year's biodiversity assessment. In the second phase, ASUS implemented the TNFD "LEAP" methodology, which focuses on locating, evaluating, assessing, and preparing operational activities to determine if the company sites and global supply chain are in biodiversity hotspots or crucial habitats. The analysis will help ASUS to strengthen supply chain audits and incorporate management at relevant points to enhance its resilience in the face of changes in the natural environment.
Participated in biodiversity programs beyond the value chain
To support the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency's "Natural Carbon Sink and Biodiversity Matching Platform" policy in 2024, ASUS will work with the Kuan-Shu Education Foundation, which has a long history of environmental advocacy, to start the biodiversity project in Daxue Mountain areas. This initiative aims to take practical steps in line with the "Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework" to gradually reduce the negative impact on biodiversity.
